Chris + Rebeca

We are entering a new era in Los Castro Photography. The era of full time. For the past twelve years we have had experiences in every area of photography- including international photography. We officially made it a business in 2018 when coming back from living abroad. The husband and wife team eventually turned into me- Michel- running the business and keeping it steady with the popular mini sessions, family sessions and weddings. I became a teacher during this time and had no intentions of becoming a full time photographer, until my second daughter was born. This new season challenged my perspective on life, causing me to leave everything I have ever known and try the unknown. I am officially going full time into photography! We are keeping the name, but creating more content, and hopefully collaborate with creative vendors. Spread the word- Los Castro is no longer a side hustle- it is officially available as a full time business.

We are celebrating this news with our most recent engagement session- Chris and Rebeca. Together we ventured out to Eastern Glades park in Houston, Texas and caught the golden hour. These braves souls managed to have an engagement session during the beginning of a Texas summer. We all know this heat ‘aint no joke. These two made their session look effortless; the romance was off the charts! As you scroll through these pictures, may you be reminded that love is a commitment, an effort, a promise to one another. An engagement session is quite telling when two are in love, and these two are glowing.

Stay tuned for future updates on Los Castro - A future giveaway is in store ! ;)

Melissa + Erwing Wedding

What does Nicaragua and the Philippines have in common? I’ll tell you with pictures.

Erwing and Missy met a few years ago when Missy decided to go to Nicaragua for work. Little did she know in 2014 that she was to fall madly in love with Erwing (from Nicaragua) and that she was going to be in a long distance relationship for a year and half only to realize the inevitable; they were meant to be together.

This began a journey for both of them as they navigated through the U.S system delays and Nicaragua’s socio-political crisis. It was, indeed, a hard patch, but together they overcame what life was throwing at them. Fast forward five years and here we are…

I must say that what I enjoyed most of this wedding was not only to observe true love, but to observe family and what it really means to honor them. One thing that stood out to me during a speech Missy made to her guests was that she grew up with dad being in the military, meaning that she learned to value the times when family was all together. It challenged me, as an observer and a documenter, to value such precious family times. I hope that I was able to capture the true entity of this night. Love reigns.

P.S Missy and Erwing decided to do a “First Look” before their ceremony. I was NOT disappointed :).

Lilly + David

In a world where social media has become ecstasy, it is nice to meet strangers and talk about dreams, ambitions and their joys. This field has opened the doors to many conversations with great people. Lilly and David are not the exception.

Perhaps you will see a young couple in love, smiling and giggling in front of the camera, but as the photographer, I hear the stories. I hear the laughter. I hear the plans. There is no greater privilege than to document stories that are yet to be told.

Social media helps me as a photographer, but it lacks the real story. I can only do my best to potray what I hear and see in real time. Lilly and David my friends… !Viva el amor!
