If you are here you most likely read my post on Insta, where I shared about our long break of shooting weddings. Since we left the states at the beginning of 2016 we had not had any weddings come up, but we are glad to finally break the long wait with this precious couple. It was probably the hottest day of the year thus far and Josabeth had not eaten a proper breakfast or lunch, yet that did not break her spirit. Throughout the day she kept that smile high; she knew that no matter what, she was marrying her best friend. She loves that boy. After the ceremony we went to a quiet place, a place that might not have seemed much to them, but to me it was everything. It was my salvation. There was poor lighting everywhere, and quite frankly I wasn't sure if I had the creativity to pull it off. We sometimes (photographers) tend to doubt our intuition. But this alley that I magically found was where everything happened. It reminded me of why I constantly chase light. It reminded me that I have the privilege to capture love. It reminded me of all the good things a wedding holds despite all that could go wrong during that special day. In the end, the bride and the groom trust me, and they can look back with certainty that there was no hungry bride, that there was no stress; they can go back and see that everything went well, and that after all the trouble, everything turned out okay.
Weddings
Ashley + Mike
Mike and Ashley were wed on December 20th, 2015; my last wedding of the year. I met ashley during my college years at Sam Houston; her personality was the first thing that caught my attention. She wasn't shy, she was truthful, and she knew what she wanted. She was, and still is, a very independent woman. You may recall a few earliers posts in which we took her engagement pictures; It was during this time that I met a different Ashley. An Ashley who had gotten bit by this bug we call love. Her smile was contagious and her love for Mike was evident in all of her. I am privileged to have clients that allow me to do what I need to do. Ashley and Mike were so flexible with me! Following is what I captured on their beautiful cloudy and windy wedding day :).

Katie + Sam
Katie and Sam were wed on a beautiful December evening. A few months ago when Katie was planning her wedding, she reached out to me and asked me to be a part of it as her wedding photographer. I was honored that she trusted me to take pictures on her big day. This girl has a good eye for art, so it really meant a lot when she thought I was the gal for the job. During that time I was not sure if I was going to be able to be in Houston during her wedding; we were suppose to have arrived in Costa Rica around September if you remember correctly. But God was looking out for Katie and our plans got delayed until January. It was a privilege to have been able to document Sam and Katie’s wedding day.
Katie and Sam decided to have a beautiful ceremony in Huntsville’s First United Methodist church. The sanctuary was filled with a Christmas spirit that best represented this time of year. During the day, Katie was getting ready in what was to be her new home. I noticed that her bridesmaids were all wearing white and when I asked her what this meant she sweetly replied that she wanted her bridal party to represent holiness and purity. Though Katie’s wedding was small and simple, it was the definition of elegance at its finest. There were no screaming colors trying to grab your attention; the details were magnified through the personality of the bride and groom. It truly was a family event. “It was a team effort,” Katie says. “Everyone, one both sides of the family, came together and helped.”
Katie is not the type of girl that likes attention to herself, but through her story, on her wedding day, many hearts were touched. Sam and Katie are both going to conquer the hearts of many with their kindness and their love for Jesus. I am sure of it! So here it is, their big day in a summary of pictures:
