Levon + Barbara

If only you could have seen the laughs, the tears, the talks that Barbara and I had growing up, you would understand the joy I feel as I type out this blog. In just a few months Barbara will be getting married. I have known Barbara since I was in high school. We have known each other for quite some time. I have seen her on her highs and on her lows. She has the seen the same of me. She told me jokingly right after her session that if we did not have Jesus, we wouldn’t probably be friends. I smiled. Maybe.

You see, Barbara and I are nothing alike. She’s A and i’m B. She’s north, and I am south. Who knows if we would have eventually found each other, but I am glad that we did. Jesus definitely gets the credit for this one. Now I share her joy as she has found ‘the one’. I share her gratefulness, because those that are closest to her know, that it was all very well worth the wait. Levon, you take care of my friend. I can’t want to see what God has in store for you both.

The Downs Wedding

“Show me who your friends are and I will show you your future”. This is a famous quote that we often hear teachers and parents tell children. When I walk into a wedding I get to experience the life that my couples have built. I see the best friend who has been with the bride through her many hardships. I see the best man who makes it his job to ensure the groom has fun with all his men. I see a village that cheers on a hopeful pair.

Show me your friends and I will show you your future… I witnessed on December 23d, 2019 that Elizabeth and Caleb’s future will forever be blessed because of their loved ones. Passionate and gentle arms surrounded them on that lovely winter night. Everyone celebrated with delight as they witnessed the union of two lovers.

I enjoy observing family and friend interactions. I enjoy witnessing inside jokes while at the corner there is a pondering bride… This is what makes a wedding day special. I get to help document these small yet magical details. Congratulations Caleb and Elizabeth, your wedding was phenomenal.

Melissa + Erwing Wedding

What does Nicaragua and the Philippines have in common? I’ll tell you with pictures.

Erwing and Missy met a few years ago when Missy decided to go to Nicaragua for work. Little did she know in 2014 that she was to fall madly in love with Erwing (from Nicaragua) and that she was going to be in a long distance relationship for a year and half only to realize the inevitable; they were meant to be together.

This began a journey for both of them as they navigated through the U.S system delays and Nicaragua’s socio-political crisis. It was, indeed, a hard patch, but together they overcame what life was throwing at them. Fast forward five years and here we are…

I must say that what I enjoyed most of this wedding was not only to observe true love, but to observe family and what it really means to honor them. One thing that stood out to me during a speech Missy made to her guests was that she grew up with dad being in the military, meaning that she learned to value the times when family was all together. It challenged me, as an observer and a documenter, to value such precious family times. I hope that I was able to capture the true entity of this night. Love reigns.

P.S Missy and Erwing decided to do a “First Look” before their ceremony. I was NOT disappointed :).
